-- Giving thanks
5:08 PM, Nov 19th 2009 in Confessions

One week untill Thanksgiving.

Lets all come here and tell what we will give thanks for next thursday.
In our family, before we sit down to have the Thanksgiving meal we stand around in a circle and each person tells what they give thanks for.

Then we have that wonderful meal that the family pitched in to make, and to bring over their great dishes to our 89 year old Aunts house. I give thanks that she has lived so long and drives, goes all over, and still bakes the Turkey, her yummy dishes we all share on Sat's. She always has a homemade cake, pie, or something wonderful to eat with the Sat. coffee.
I wish each and everyone of you a loving, wonderful Thanksgiving and hope you have something to give thanks for.
I also thank God for my loving hubby, and all my kids.
<3 :D
What do you give thanks for?

pass the turkey..or whoever you are, give it a rest.

Back on subject.
Nothing like your celebration, but what we have is Harvest Festival.
Churches,School etc give all fruit from the harvest for the poor.
Bit crap,LOL,most of it's in tins, but I guess it's the thought that counts.

We have our dinner at a lovely resturant. There's ten of us at a round table. We do the same thing as you Authur. We each take a turn and say what we are grateful for.

This year I am grateful for the love of Jesus and the love of my family. I am so happy that my sister and I are getting to know each other again. I am grateful for the people I am meeting on this site and wish peace and happiness through the holidays into the new year! <3 <3

Sorry EB but I was serious. I value friendship, as well as good times from the past (not refering to here, my real past) and I think if we can't laugh at ourselves then we shouldn't make fun of others. But if it will make you happy, I'll add that I too am thankful for family, all the people that have come into my life and enriched it and the fact that I have numerous opportunities to give back to those less fortunate makes me very thankful.

I am thankful that I found my only brother after not knowing where he was for over 20 years.
We searched for him over 20 years and just found him 9 months ago.
Also for 5 wonderful children, 10 Grand, and 13 Great Grandkids.
And a husband of 34 years.

We used to do that...go around the table and say what we're thankful for. But we all had the same answer every time...each other. <3

We alternate where we go on Thanksgiving, trying to keep the families happy. This year we're at Beste's (Norwegian for Grandma). There are always Lots of people and Hubby's Aunt Vicki will be there and it's her birthday. Grandpa Harold will be there, and we fear it will be his last as he's not doing good...so we're grateful to get to spend this time with him.

Right now I'd like to say that I'm thankful for our Roo family...the close friendships that have been formed, the friendships yet to be formed, all the fun and crazy times we've shared and the times yet to be shared. Yes, there have been disagreements and frustrations too, but that's just part of the package with family. I definitely feel that the good outweighs the bad and that we're All an integral part of this place we call The Roo. ^_^

Thank you for the kind wishes and I wish the same for you and yours! ^_^

That's weird...I believe that there were 9 comments last night and now there are 7...the first 2 are gone? Did the posters do it or was there help? Sorry...I'm gonna be a little anxious with anything that just disappears for a while... :agrr:

@Thankful that's really nice.
We've got the stuff going on in the media at the mo about the English children being deported to Oz from years ago going through to the mid 60's.
Some were told their parents were dead etc,it might seem trivial to some but I was adopted and not knowing your family roots can be a part of you for years to come.

Hey eb, I have helped my s.o. find his birth family. There are many siblings, and nieces and nephews. But apparently, he was lucky that he was adopted. If you are looking, maybe I can help.

Let me know, I would love to give you some pointers. It is never too late. We found the family last name exactly on his birthday. And we opened the envelope with the information (I know this is amazing) at the exact restaurant where we found out his biological mother's water broke. How about that for coincidence, or is it?
