My father is a police officer and his father is a drunk.One day while I was with my father his father called him and asked to see him.We got to the bar where the old gray haired man was drinking and as drunk as a human can get without passing out.We sat down and the old drunk looked up and said." I never thought I'd live to see the day when a son of man became a goddamnpoliceman".
He asked me who I was and I said."nobody".Then we got the hell out of there.

Many other terms, some of them insulting or informal, have been used throughout history. The World Health Organization estimates that there are 140 million people with alcoholism problems worldwide.
