We Hardly Ever Get Fog Where I Live

We hardly ever get fog where I live, but the last two days it has been so foggy you can't see five feet in front of you.Last night driving home, there was a bad accident on the Summit.It looked like someone just drove off the road over a cliff, from what I could see.There were about 15 Emergency vehicles there, with their lights flashing.I hope no one was hurt.

Today, I heard a loud, odd noise.I walked over to a very steep hill, all covered with trees (and fog).What I heard was very beautiful.There were hundreds of birds in the trees, all chirping.It was very loud, the closer I got!I listened for about 15 minutes, and the sound didn't change at all.Must have been at least two different kinds of birds from what I could hear.I thought it sounded like a waterfall of bird sounds.I've never heard anything like that before, and probably never will again!Maybe hundreds of birds gathered there to protest the fog?Ha ha!

Surprisingly, we get fog here, sometimes like you described. Makes it fun to take the kids to school, lol. I guess the canyons bring it in. You, however, are up in the hills and that must be scary as hell to drive in. One wrong turn and off a cliff you could go!

The birds singing sounds very cool! Like an orchestra of birds playing for you!:-)

Be careful on the roads please!!

Lindy we have very pretty small parrots called Rainbow Lorikeets, they call out to all thier friends BIG time when they find food in our garden or close by, they like fruit or berries or nuts...they make a huge racket with happiness, if you want to go see them add the www. in front of this link, they are SO SO pretty they look unreal with the colours.

They are worth a look they are so pretty, but the noise they make?Not so pretty!LOL

Well did you find out about what happened with all the Emer. vich?

We don't have birds like that where I live but do have some white owls that are really neat to watch early in the mornings and latter on in the evenings.

All the wild animals around here are mostly Parrie Dogs that I lovingly call Targets. LOL!

I love really foggy night, when I'm at home safe in my house of course...lol
Lindy, be careful...hh is right. One wrong turn and that's that. That would make me a nervous wreck. A lot of people get Vertigo when they get into a fog like that, scary, scary stuff.

LOL...those Lorikeets are beautiful.......but boy oh boy, are they messy.

I thought of you as I drove through the fog, taking the kids to school this morning. It wasn't as bad here as you described there. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often. The traffic lights looked like holiday ornaments poking through the fog. Be safe!

I tried the link, Aus, and it took me to Acclaim Images...but to the photo of the day. Perhaps they changed it? I did a search there of the birds and didn't get to hear them sing, but did see some pics and they certainly are beautiful!

Wow, this is such a coincidence Lindy, considering how far apart we are. I was coming home from the woods the other night and it was so foggy I could hardly see but I rolled down my window and it cleared up pretty quick ;-)

"a waterfall of bird sounds" . . . I like that description. We have a huge Rocky Mountain Juniper next to our back deck that fills up with birds chirping all at the same time (how rude!). when I hope the patio door there is instant silence and then the sound of wings as they make their escape;-)

My next-door neighbor has some kind of oriental tree that has red berries in the spring.He calls it a "Chinaberry Tree", but I don't really think that's what it is.Anyway, in the spring it attracts cardinals by the dozens.One or two cardinals by themselves have a pleasant sound, but dozens of them at one time is a loud upleasant noise.When I open my back door, the sound is awful as they all fly away at once.

Once, my neighbor's cat cruised the yard and thought he'd climb that tree to get at the birds.It's like they joined ranks and executed a co-ordinated attack on that poor unsuspecting cat.What a sight!Poor cat won't go near that tree now.lol

Glad you liked the birds, the are the same as the cardinals in that they are so darn pretty butthe fuss they make when feeding is unreal!
I love their name Rainbow Lorikeet, they are like a vivid rainbow I guess colourwise. :-D
